These things are dirt cheep for ford to make, dirt cheap for fleets to buy and maintain, and everybody is happy... except the end user. Talk about squeezing every last drop out of something. + my friends who are cops love them becase the can trash them and fix them in house. Many of the police departments in my area have their own frame pullers, and can restore the car to a like new status on their own. which means a much smaller cost to them. The biggest reason/ besides contracts, that the police has not moved to newer vehilces (coming from my friends who are cops) is that the overal cost of mantaining the newer style of vehicles is often 5-8 times more than that of a acrown vic.
I have a friend who had a crown vic cruiser and recently moved to a dodge charger cruiser. He misses his crown vic for 1 reason. Room, the new cars are much smaller inside, and will all the computers + the gear they wear, he feels cramped and gets sore sitting in his charger all day, and he didn't have that problem in the roomy crown vic.
it has nothing to do if they are good cars. they are cheap cars. cheap to mantain. that is all.
