If I didn't love Saabs so much, I would be so smart to have a Japanese car. I have some friends who are really into imports, and big HP turbo Hondas have been around for a long time, and 350-400 hp is totally within the realm of stock internals, when matched with the proper fuel pump and injectors and ECU, and almost none of the imports have drivetrain issues like 900's do. I have a friend with a 350WHP 2.2L supercharged Honda Prelude, on totally stock transmission, and he likes to shift hard (He ran 12.4 in the quarter) and by hard I mean like real drag style, where you spin the tires in second and all that, and the previous owner frove it like that too, still shifts fine, and no transmission blow up. The Honda gearboxes are built for old ladies who grind every gear and can be totally abused with few ill effects.

I totally appreciate the level of performance of other makes, especially when on the thrifty side, and I am afraid I am guilty of being a little narrow minded some of the time due to limitations I face with 20 year old electronics and lower levels of development that the import cars receive from the aftermarket world, which is not any Saab companies fault, they are all fantastic, but the level of interest in imports is so much greater that the profit margins are enought to allow much more involved and I dare say advanced in many cases of engineering for import performance parts.
