I am not saying I would go around pushing that much power out of a Honda, but they are very well engineered engines, and can take that power, sometimes for several years, not just hundreds.
I guess what I was getting at, rather unsuccessfully, is that greater power potential can usually be realized at less expense than doing something similar on a 900. See the post started by SupraMan above, and Jeff Cunningham, Eric and Gary's responses, basically everything I was going fo rin slightly different context, plus a nice explanation of why we all love Saabs so much: they can be made lots of fun, and easily last 20 years.
There are many examples of botched Saab performance jobs out there too, these are not limited to import people, it's true in every circle. All I was at was that often on this board we do not give enough credit to other's passions for their own cars.
