Dragging front discs on new install Posted by BradW [Email] |
We’re still chasing a dragging set of front brakes after our new install. Here’s what we installed:
1. New discs, calipers and pads
2. New Beck Arnley wheel cylinders in the rear
3. New brake springs in the rear
4. New flex hoses all four wheels
5. Overhauled master cylinder at White Post
6. Rear shoes and drums were kept and were in excellent condition
We’ve bled the brakes many times: one circuit at a time, one wheel at a time, and in the proper order. neither method showed any difference.
The pedal was adjusted to 0.25” before it engages the MC. It has an originalreturn spring which looks good.
Rear drums spin freely and engage just as they should when the pedal is depressed. The front wheels can be turned by hand but they’re “stiff” taking about 10lbs of force to rotate and definitely don’t spin freely. The drag is enough to heat and expand the brakes to near lockup in a mile or so.
What else am I missing?
