Hi Ryan,

Congratulations! Now the fun begins!

A couple of comments and then I'll answer your questions. First, a 2 barrel carb won't really offer huge performance gains without bigger valves, ported heads, and a bigger exhaust. We're talking about matching the gas flow path from intake to exhaust. Without that, you'll see some improvement, but not radical. Second, I trust you got an intermediate plate with the manifold. You need that. And... it doesn't match the Weber, it matches a Solex carb. BUT, it can easily be modified to match the Weber. I can help you with this if you need more information. Third, I have a '74 Sonett that runs the 2 barrel Weber, but it has big valves and all the rest. I also did a little project this winter to my '71 96- big valve heads, 2 barrel Weber, and a 2" exhaust. And Pertronix in the dizzy. I also welded in a bung and installed a wideband oxygen sensor and gauge- helps with tuning the carb. See picture attached of the engine.

Now to your questions:

1. Yes, you have to modify the linkage. You need a short adjustable rod and a little adapter on the carb itself. I can send you more detailed pics if you like.
2. I really like the manual choke version. It's on both my VSaabs. I like the control it offers. No experience with the electric choke version.
3. I really like the Weber 32/36 DGV with the manual choke. It's a progressive carb which in theory gives you better mileage- it runs on the the first barrel until you get into it, and then the second one opens. I think people wanting ultimate performance go for one that isn't progressive- both barrels open at the same time. I got mine from Allstate carbs, along with the air filter you see in the picture. Should fit the Sonett no problem. You can find them on the internet. Pierce is also really good. Make sure you get gaskets- you need two- under the intermediate plate and under the carb.
As for jetting, I can send you what the Allstate comes with, what Jack Ashcraft recommends, and where I ended up (minor change from the Allstate). I consider the Allstate kind of plug and play- but it really depends on the rest of the engine.
4. See above for the air filter.

For the 96, I had a single barrel Weber on it (34ICH) and it ran very well- big improvement on the original! Going to the 2 barrel with all the other stuff, didn't kick me in the seat of the pants, but provided modest gains. Due to the stiffer valve springs and more fuel volume, it will pull strongly to 6500 RPM.

Let me know if you have further questions. I can send you more pics of the 96 and the Sonett if you like. BTW, the Sonett engine was built by Jack Lawrence and will pull to 7500 RPM!
