I agree that OnStar needs a lot of work to be a good system, but still, I'd rather have it than not. It is comforting to know that if I am ever knocked unconscious in an accident that help will be on the way regardless of if I am alone on a deserted highway or in the middle of town. It's immediate, as opposed to waiting for someone to see and locate you. Do you remember Tilly Tooter? She drove off the road (or something) into a ditch and was stuck there for three days or so. Saved only because an observant child thought that something was funny when she noticed Tooter's car under the overpass. If she had only had OnStar all she would have needed to do is press the emergency key and be in contact with emergency services seconds after her accident. It would've done it automatically had her airbags gone off (I don't recall if they were equipped on her car or whether or not they deployed).
I too have received busy messages but I always get through at some point, but I am assured that in a true emergency the red button will send me right through to help. While I don't know if I will be renewing come December, I am glad that I have the service now.
If I do renew it will only be for the Safety & Security package... while the concierge services are nice, they are used too infrequently and often take too long.
Does anyone else think that it goes against Saab's creed of safety to not include the S & S package as standard and included for the life of the car? Just my opinion.
