I think it is quite telling that the important *safety* aspects are optional. Don't pay GM their monthly fee, then you can die in your wrecked car and GM won't call the ambulance. Boy, that attiude really gives me the warm fuzzies. How many Saabs are in serious accidents per year? How much would it cost to provide the bare-bones, life-saving, crash-reporting to all customers for free?
I think it's great for GM to charge extra for the OnStar convenience frills. But the horrible and simple fact is that they'll let you die in your car unless you first agree to let them hit your credit card forever.
Do they want to serve their customers and earn loyalty? Or do they just wanna see how much $$$ they can squeeze out of them? Gee, I wonder...
