So why do we own these cars if they are not rated that great as far as reliability? Even coined as quirky sometimes? For me it's easy. Have you ever driven and Honda or Toyota? They are what I call a "generic car". About as boring as a bad movie or counting sheep. I just bought my used 2002 9-5 Arc and people at my work said "WHY did you buy that?". I told them that I've always driven something different than the norm, and they know that. If you want reliable transportation and a car with zero character, buy Japanese. But if you want something that's actually fun to drive, well thought out, loaded with wonderful features - then a Saab may fit the bill - it does for me. It's been a long time since I've owned a car that I just want to drive, even if I have no where special to go. So I drifted away from the topic but that's why there are Saab owners, and dedicated ones at that. Many Saab's stay in the family and are passed down. You'll never see that kind of loyalty from a Honda owner. My last daily driver Saab was a 1982 900 APC Turbo. It was a horrible car in regards to cost to maintain - but I absolutely loved driving it. Now I finally got another Saab for a daily driver and someday if I get the time, I'll fix up my '73 Sonett. For now, the 2002 9-5 Arc is doing fine and yes, 46,000 miles and the Turbo needed replacing. No excuse for that but Saab payed for it. :-)
