A couple of thoughts, both good and bad:
1> front doors that just do not want to stay open. The detent in the slide bar that goes into the door needs to be reprofiled just a bit to solve this. Open the door, start to get out, and the dam thing comes back and hits you in the shin. Both my 9000s did this as well.
2> The power windows.Too dam slow. Instead of a 250 HP Aero, I would settle for a 248 HP motor, and use the extra 1 HP for each door window!
3> Ignition key. I 'm with Jim on this one. There is absolutely no justification in taking up this much center console real estate with this complicated and expensive to manufacture apparatus, especially in this age of smart card technology, and electronic security. Getting rid of it would allow for the entire redesign of
4> The entire center console. Window switches should be the old style rocker switches with a oushing motion on one side for up, and a pushing motion on the other for down. Lifting the switch to raise the window is in my opinion, counterintuitive, and the fact that it takes so long to lift the window makes it worse.
5> Soft glass. I have more windshield pitting with my Saabs than with any other car I have owned. To top it off, the best aftermarket price I have got for a new one is about $700. Ouch!
6> Location of front and rear fog light switches. As much as I hate those stupid things being on and in my face when it is not foggy out,I tend to reach for the switch to flash mine at offending drivers to try to get them to turn theirs off. By the time you find the switch, they are in long gone.
The Bi-Xenons in my new Aero will be my revenge!
7> Some really nice touches. For those 9-5 drivers who have not got their cell phones hooked up with the hands free package, you are missing out on one of this car's best features. Do it before you have to ,or before you crash.
8> The fold down cup holder: I don't care what they say, this is the neatest thing, and never fails to impress new passengers.
9> Styling: I still think that the 9-5 is a terrific looking car, even afer four years.
10> The performance and fuel efficiency. No other car that can be purchased in this price range gives so much of both.
There are many more, but if I could put one item on my wish list, it would be the new paddle shifted electro-hydraulic trans that is coming out on the M-3 this spring. If not for the 56,000 semolians it will take to get your local BMW dealer to part with one,I would possibly jump ship and defect to the Beemer. I also think that the first iteration of it that they are introducing is too complicated, and that they will clean it up as time goes on, but the idea in principal is terrific. Auto or manual operation, no shift lever,no clutch pedal.
