I am so glad you asked about the SAAB cupholders! We have had our 9-5 for 3 years, and are about to get another one. For the most part, we have been extremely happy with the car. BUT, as elegant as they are, the cup holder in the dash is so annoying I can hardly restrain myself from pulling it out of its socket every time I use it. I find that the ring that swivels out is often too small for certain bottles, and since the storage space is so limited in the front console we use the cup holder in there as a sort of repository for misc. stuff. Besides, it is inconvienient to stretch backwards while watching the road. The little tabs that are attached to the ring are another annoyance, as they are fine when the cup is what SAAB deems acceptable, however, any variance from that size and they are like little demons that grab onto the bottle or cup and hold make removal very difficult.

We rented a Volvo recently on a trip and it had far a far better center console with two cup holders at convienient arm length, as well as a lot of storage.

Isn't it time SAAB admitted that they make family cars (especially the wagons) and designed a better center console with better and more cup holders?
