Bob H said it - get good snow tires. Not two, but all four.

Saabs are excellent snow cars. Saabs are pretty popular in Sweden, where many roads are not plowed - they just pack them down and drive on snow all winter. But no car will go unless it has good tires.

Get a good set of FOUR snows. I prefer Gislaved, but the Nok...(I can't spell it to save my life) are also rated very well. Make sure the tire pressures are right.

I say four snows, because if you put snows only on the front, you'll be able to accelerate fine, but turning and stopping will be exciting. If you have regular tires on the back, they can lock up under braking, and that will cause the rear end to come around. Also on turning, the rear end can break loose if the rears slip. So unless you have some pretty agressive all weathers in back, get four good snows. The nice part about that is you can rotate the tires every season and get lots of wear out of them.
