For big snow, best is 4 snow tires, usually 185-65-15.
If you don't want an xtra tire/wheel set, and must deal with snow, then the popular 195-60-15 all season will NOT do well, in most cases, esp with hills, esp if 1/2 worn. Non-snow tire options:
1) 195-65-15 will do better in snow, esp if a brand that runs a narrow contact width is selected. The 65 will usually have a narrower contact patch than the 60. The pirelli 4000 TR, H rated seems like a good choice.
2) 185-65-15 will be much narrower, and very good in the snow. Dry handling fun will be much reduced.
My 1/2 worn 195-60-15 D60A2's have as much contact width as many 205-60's, and are a blast on dry exit ramps, but almost useless in the snow.
