as big a fan of Saabs as I am, you have to admit that they're turbocharged engines are not particularly fuel efficient, at least as measured by EPA. Why is that?? For example, my automatic 9-3 is EPA rated at 19 city/25 highway. I do better than this on the highway in practice, but for a car with a 2 liter engine, you'd think fuel economy would be much better. There are sports sedans with 3 liter V-6 engines with much better numbers than this, and are just as heavy (3100 lbs or so) as the Saab 9-3. So I'm a bit curious about the argument that turbocharged smaller displacement engines are more fuel efficient than larger, normally aspirated engines.....
