OMG, if a number of plugs were broken immediately after being put in, it seems pretty clear they used the wrong plugs, and I'd suspect that some broken chunk of one of them (or maybe more) fell into the cylinder and perhaps got wedged in between the piston and the cylinder wall and scored the cylinder wall, resulting in the low compression. What a mess.
