Similar to your experience, dealer level diagnosis and labor will always/usually be more than a competent indy shop. Someone has to pay for the brand marque fees and free coffee machine in the showroom. These days most big name dealers are annoyed dealing with working on Saabs since it's now been 12+ years since they were sold new. All the Saab techs have moved on and no new guys are trained to work on them.

Found many 9440 2.0T and 2.8 v6 harnesses on ebay for less than $200 with R&R another $350-450 in labor.
