I put 100K on my 9K Aero... Posted by PGAero [Email] (#1143) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PGAero) on Tue, 31 Jan 2012 09:40:59 In Reply to: Upgrade my 98 9000 to 9-5 Aero??, GPost, Mon, 30 Jan 2012 11:10:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Then I sold it when my wife and I moved over seas a couple years back. We recently returned tot eh states and we bought the car I knew I'd be getting, a 9-5 Aero wagon. We found a nice '04 with 72K miles and some service history. There were no issues with the car upon purchase (we found it at a Honda dealer) and it had new brakes, new sunroof, oil changed, good Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, and a nearly complete service history (Saab dealer serviced shown on the carfax at reasonable intervals.) We paid $7995.
Anyway, to your question... I loved the 9000 Aero. It was an absolutely fantastic car for 7 years and 100K miles. I miss it. It's more unique than the 9-5, which I like, and as others have said, there is something more elemental/raw about it. I always thought it was a fantastic car in just about every way. What I traded off in handling I more than made up for in utility.
So far, I really like the 9-5 Aero wagon. The space in a wagon doesn't make me long for the 9000 hatch, but my time in my dad's 9-5 sedan did. The 9-5 is more refined and quieter at freeway speeds. The 9-5 Aeros seats are a nice improvement over the standard 9000 or 9-5 seats (like you have in your 98), but I doubt anything will ever be as nice as the 9000 Aero seats. I'm glad we went with the 9-5 Aero. It's no 9000, but in almost all ways its an improvement.
If I were you, I'd keep my eyes out for a nice deal on the 9-5 of your choice. Until then, keep the shiny side up in the 9000.
