I removed the front and rear liners few years ago. Easy to remove. Not easy to reinstall : patience is required to align the part with the studs.
Plastic screws : they get jammed in rust over the years. I applied PB-Blaster or similar 1 day before the removal. 1 stud broked. Plastic screws are not welded, they are simply jammed...
I sprayed a coating of epoxy based rust protection on the clean surface of the wheel well while the car was 2 years old (no rust). I plan to take a look this fall to make sure everything is still out of rust.
I also applied small pieces of 3M stone guard on the lower leg of the fender (between the fender and the long plastic part that runs under the doors). Rubbing between these two parts cut the paint, causing rust on the the fender. Same principle on the front fender.
