Take a look at esaabparts.com. They have all of the parts diagrams listed, and you can see what's still available and what isn't. Generally every mechanical part is available, and only cosmetic parts have been discontinued. Even then, plenty of interior pieces are still being sold, but junkyards are far cheaper places to get worn out bits.
There are plenty of things that wear out on these cars, just because they're far more complex than a 9000 or 900/9-3. Common problems that I've had on my own personal 9-5s (I currently have a 2000 Aero wagon and a 2001 Aero sedan) are broken climate control blend door and recirculate motors, bad motor mounts, sagging rear springs, worn out front subframe bushings, worn out shocks and struts, bad SID and ACC displays, and failing alarm siren modules. Fixing all of that is well worth it, though. These are great cars when everything's in working order.
