Although I am grasping at straws, I would say the following increases risk in no particular order:
>use of premium fuel which maximises engine torque and stress
>age/condition of MAF
NC is flat so mountainous terrain is not a factor.
If one lives by the sea, can salt contamination cause any issues over time?
Is it possible that a new MAF could change the fuel ratio or ? in an old engine to accelerate wear to the point of failure?
Perhaps issues relating to engine timing accelerate wear?
Finally, should older/higher mileage original B235 engines now be run on a regular low octane diet in their old age? The equivalent of pureed food?
