Well, when what you are spending per year to keep your current car going starts to match the total monthly payments for a new car, then you're at a dividing line. Then you have to consider what your down payment for the next car would be.
Check out some new and used cars that you might like and figure out the down payment and a monthly payment for each. Compare those with your monthly cost to maintain your SAAB.
Then at least you'll have a cost comparison to use in your decision process.
