It's been years since I posted on SAABNet, so long that my log on and email no longer were in the system. Anyway, I envy those who have managed to keep 9-5s going for so long. My 2006 9-5 wagon was one of my favorite ever cars that I have owned, in the USA or abroad where I spent 25 years, (along with my 1964 Sunbeam Alpine, a 1968 Fiat 124 Coupe, an early 70s Peugeot 504 wagon, a Euro spec 1984 318i with manual everything except for servo brakes, a South African late 80s/early90s Camry never offered here - high output V6, ZF gearbox, great suspension mods with Koni shocks, Brembo brakes and more, and two of the three Volvos I have owned or had as office cars. Numerous VWs, Fords, Chevys, Toyotas, a Mitsubishi, a Subaru, Opel and Jeep that I have owned or had as office cars do not make the cut, although the Land Cruisers had their moments.

Anyway, to get to the point, trading in my 2006 9-5 at only 130,00 miles was painful. It was because of some really silly things. I needed an electrical connector for one of the front fog lights -impossible to find anywhere I looked. Also, DICs were getting hard to find, and chewing them up was my car's main fault. Parts for 2005 and earlier 9-5s were abundant, but not for the 2006-2008 ones. Perhaps that has changed. I can only imagine how hard it must be to find parts, especially body and trim pieces for the last 9-5s. Perhaps Buick and Opel mechanical parts will work, but what about SAAB specific parts?

I had a 2016 Volvo XC60 which was OK, but made me realize that I like wagons, not SUVs. My current daily driver is a 2019 Volvo V90CC, which is a worthy replacement for the 2006 9-5. As someone else mentioned, the Volvo certified warranty is excellent - the balance of the 5/50 warranty, plus unlimited miles after 50K for five years, extendable to ten years.
