I remember needing to replace the taillight of my 1991 Prelude, and how its 2057 looked identical to the 1157 that I had used in multiple older vehicles. At the time, i assumed that it was manufactured to a tighter tolerance, as that Prelude was the first car that I had owned that would dashboard-notify you of a bulb out. It might have taken Detroit another decade or two to have that (extremely valuable) feature in their vehicles.
