Hello,
Good to hear you found that issue. That number 3 bearing did look a bit rough. How did the crank feel where the bearing rides? Was it scored? If its scored some I will use wet sanding grit sand paper and polish it up some. Cut it into strips and and pull it back and forth over it and then rotate the crank some and continue until I have worked my way around. I have done this many times successfully and a few times without success. But usually if you ignore it completely success will be limited.
Also as far as the balance shaft bearings go I have never changed them in situ. There are like old pushrod engine cam bearings to install. I usually let the machine shop take car of them. Hope this didn't come to late for your day of work. Good Luck, Bernie
