A customer of mine manage to find new Saab HK speakers for his 05 9-5 including the elusive rear subwoofer.

I installed all and it sounded great.
He picks up the car today and comes back saying the subwoofer sounds awful and sure it did making all kinds of noise when blaring his music.

Popped off the grill and sure enough, it had ripped the flex portion of speaker element (don't know the professional name of it).

So even though it was "new in box" it was still old enough to instantly tear when you cranked up the base.
I didn't load it up that much when testing the system so that's why it held up.
