It doesn't leak when cold and it doesn't leak when warm from that O-ring until it gets bad.
The leak only happens during the cool down period overnight when the cast iron block and the aluminum connection pipe is shrinking at different speeds allowing small amounts of coolant to seep out passed the flat O-ring.
The O-ring is suppose to flex with that but since the rubber material is so bad nowadays, it stays flat instead.
