Hello,
A quick way to determine between a CPS and a fuel pump is to spray carb and choke or starter fluid in the intake and try to start the car when it won't start. If it fires you know you have spark and thus the CPS is good. But a bad DI cassette (coil set up) will have no spark but if you pull a spark plug it often will be fuel soaked.
Just remember the fuel pump comes on for about 2 seconds when the key is first moved to run as a prime. After that it will only run if there is a crank signal. So a bad crank sensor also leads to a no fuel condition which can be wrongly diagnosed as a fuel pump. Good Luck, Bernie
