I swapped out the doors from my 84 900s - the body on that was going and I got power windows to boot. Oil spray treatment is absolutely essential though and the 86's never had it - hence the door problem. The main structure however is ok by which I mean the frame rails. This is not to say time and salt have not taken their toll on other items - the splash shields on the rotors melted away long ago, the brake line at the back has had to be replaced and steel wheels rusted away into oblivion..
Here are the places where I have had to repair a salt-bound Saab
trunk area weld under in the spare wheel/jack section
the floor pan front and back - these rust out and you have to pull the carpet to check thoroughly;
A pillars - water and dirt collect here with each pass of the wiper and they start to go
frontal area - not sure if it was cheaper metal or just badly finished welding but this areas seems the first to go especially under the rad.
amazing thing to me though is the original clear coated paint is holding up perfectly - the doors that came off the 84 had been previously painted by MAACO and faded long ago giving the car a two tone look.
