We have lots of experience with these gears. I really like how just that small amount of ratio change can make the car seem "bigger"....

You can get all the way through an intersection without having to go to 2nd gear :-) For example at the SOC 09 autocross, I never got out of 1st gear. All the other C900s started in 1st and then had to shift -- the course was extremely tight, so shifting to 2nd would mean you are downshifting to 1st almost immediately....also, on open tracks, being able to carry 3rd gear through most of the course is a big bonus. Naturally, that depends on the road course, as gearing is extremely important for power band maintenance.

Don't try to put the gears in the transmission while it is in situ. That turned into a big mistake that lead to broken intermediate gears. If you get some of them, then take the time to have them installed properly.

If you do install them, then some performance enhancement would be helpful -- starting in first, with a sick engine, the taller gearing will bog down the engine. There are a handful of things you can do to overcome some of the performance shortfalls of the stock engine and hopefully, still maintain the emissions standards.

In my book, it is all advantage except the cost of them, availability which is nil, and that you really should take the gearbox out of the car to have them installed. All the economic and mechanical hassle aside, it is a real pleasure to use a box with that primary set.

I'll buy any of them you don't want :-)
