Keep in mind that air mass meter is between the air filter and the throttle body, there's no source for oil to get into it (in a non-turbo car). Three hundred K is a lot of miles but I have a couple like that here that actually run pretty well. Install some new NGK #BCP6ES plugs, a new bosch cap and rotor and spray out the distributor and if it's getting fuel and spark it will start. Be careful cleaning that air mass meter, it has a platinum wire in it that's fragile and it's also self cleaning. You can start and run these cars with the air mass meter disconnected (electrically) or even fully removed. The ECU has a map for running the car if the AMM goes out ("limp home mode"). Good luck.
