What point was missed? You are the one who brought up the 250GTO. Every thing has value, for the Saab community is not a large group.
All cars have value. The original post was how do people come up with their selling prices. A person can place in 20,000 in a car,yet that does not mean that he/she will get that price. What scare tactics? The man placed his car in a public forum- so it can be talked of. Anyone who loves Tom's car won't/shouldn't be turned off for what has been typed here.
Ok, you would buy his car- that is all I wanted to read.
What unserviceable waterpump? all seals are available from an aftermarket source. I just rebuilt mine. With the fuel system, simple maintenance, and they can be cleaned/ rebuilt as well.
I never understood the big deal about the 87 down calipers? All you need is a freaking tool to change the pads, and don't stopped hard to avoid damaging the metal to avoid the clunking.
I've been around these cars since 1986, and been around many 900s. I have a five door as well- all original- right next to the SPG. and I personally like looking at the evolution of the 900.
When I open the bonnet, and take in that B engine- it brings back memories- when I was a kid fooling around with the old 1979. Nostalgia.
Face it, the 16valve is not a Lexus engine, and certainly requires maintenance. What of the hoses that the turbos tend to blow, or the leaky heater valve, or the leaky valve cover, or the lack luster AC systems that the 900s have?
Sure, the cars are meant to be driven, and the B engine is nice and reliable. 1979/1980 900 have B engine souls.
Alas, each his own. As mentioned previously, I sure hope that Tom gets his asking price.
