I really don`t think you need a lift. With a big breaker bar, I use a 12 point socket because it gives me finer control of angular range, but you don't need much - you just need to crack it.
There's not much difference on this between the c900 and 9-5. For me the difference was big breaker bar (on 9-5) vs using tire irons, 24" breaker bar, and a heavy duty electric (not air) impact gun... none of those had enough torque to crack it free. 4' breaker bar did. I have found many similar situations where this was true also! The breaker bar was a wise investment, that is for sure!
