Good points JVA. We used heavy gauge insulated wire and ran it along in the depression just behind the inch tall body seam visible below the car doors. Tucks up in there nicely out of harms way. We attached it with insulated wire mounts and rivits. Anything that could take out the wire in that location would probably damage the car pretty badly too.
I too would not advise running it in a way that it would be hanging loose and could get snagged on something you may run over--or just mounting it beneath the floor pan. We looked at running it through the car, but were concerned about it getting pinched somewhere and cutting the insulation and doing some in-car welding. It's pretty thick as you can see in JVA's pic. Not exactly as easy as running speaker wire.
