Well, went to my Saab indy today. I'm friendly with these guys, so they'll usually shoehorn me into their schedule. Got my car to them, (a 15 mile drive) with only one CEL incident at a light where it idled too long, (about three minutes). As I accelerated, CEL turned off. Got to my Indy and he plugged in to read codes. Came up with two. They were:26221 Coolant temp sensor, and 22440 Mixture too rich. Went to restart car and it was acting flooded. Let it set for 20 mins and it restarted. Chris,(the mechanic) told me that the temp sensor was giving too cool a reading to the ECU, (75 degrees C.) and that was making the ECU think it needed to richen the fuel mixture for a colder temperature. That logic made sense to me. Gave the shop $60 for their use of scan equipment, and gave Chris the mechanic $30 for his efforts. (Side note):While I was there, Chris asked me if I could paint a hood on his car for him and I told him, sure, give me a call when you're ready. I leave, get home and swap out the temp sender that lives right there along the intake runner flange. Top off the slight bleed of antifreeze and restart. Sit at idle and wait... CEL right back on! Seems this only happens in the idle circuit. When it does stall and you try to restart, it starts like a flooded car.. B-B-B-BBBBBBB-BROOOOM! as you press on the gas pedal. As I had said in a prior post on this thread, I've always held the 3.0 bar FPR suspect. I'm hunting a 2.8 currently, because I had once read that they were the better choice for the SD box and injectors I run, but no 3" exhaust. They only came on Comm Ed cars and are no longer being made. I have one I'm chasing right now. (I also have a Comm Ed. vert, but don't want to "rob from peter to pay paul just yet. Chris called me later in the afternoon to find out how I had made out. I told him I appreciated his efforts but nothing had changed. I told him the only difference was that I was $90.00 poorer, with a bit of a chuckle. He suggested I check my stash of parts and match numbers on my MAF sensor and try replacing that if the 2.8 FPR doesn't do the trick. I added in at the end just to razz him, "That's the difference between bodymen and mechanics: When I paint your hood, you know I painted it"... The search continues...
