Low side pressure 'should' be between 35 and 40 psi.
Undercharged? perhaps a serious Leak?
Need to get a thermometer reading at the outlet 'in action' Slightly cool while descriptive, is non info.
Unlikely to get a heckuvalot of cooling with insufficient charge.
Exp valve function can be seen by watching the low side press gauge.. if pressure wavers with increased engine revs then valve is working.
A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
Drier is irrelevant when not using Hydrocarbon refrigerants.
One need only swap it out if the thought makes you happy.
