Have you done a ACC calibration lately? We had the opposite effect, not enough heat in the winter, kept increasing the temperature setting and still cold, doing a calibration fixed it. Calibration can be tricky, the keys have to be pressed just right for it to enter the cal mode.
Just as an odd note; on A/C the red 97 runs the fan faster than the silver 96. The 96 fan can go so slow the air starts to stratify in the car. Nothing like a hot head while comfy otherwise. The 97 fan speed seems to be tied to outdoor temp, the hotter it is the faster the fan runs. Not so with the 96.
