Results of charging more refrigerant back in... I tried charging a little back in at a time, letting the system settle for several minutes between charging. What I was looking for pressure-wise was a low side of about 27 psi at 1500 RPM. (Today is a mild day with temperature of about 80 degrees and moderate humidity.)
What I'm getting is variation. Closest I can get on the low side is the low gauge slowly oscillating between 25 and 35 psi, but occasionally peaking to 40. On the high side pressure is varying between 250 and 300 psi, with peaks to 350 psi. Cooling is basically nonfunctional as before. The evaporator gets just a little cool to the touch, barely below ambient temperature.
Wonder if there is a problem with the new expansion valve? I had that happen years ago on my C900. It was nearly 10 years ago so I don't recall the exact pressures, but do remember an AC tech friend and I were really scratching our heads over it. We had just installed new hoses, drier, and expansion valve, pressures were within reason but there was no cooling. He suggested trying another valve and that brought the system alive. (Today it is still blowing ice cold air in the hottest weather.)
