2 little updates to the goofiness of the locking, etc. with my 'new' 97 Aero:
A - I tried applying a bit more pressure when locking than I had been due to the fragility of the only key's plastic part, and...surprise, surprise, surprise !!
The central locking engaged.
Tested it 2 or 3 more times & now it seems most likely that the microswitch is very fussy.
2 - Given my own difficulties this time of year, I caved in and ordered a 2nd key via Eeuro, being as it is 'on sale' with a total of around $30, shipped.
This way I'll have a 2nd, more sturdy key on hand to keep me from stupidly locking myself out or misplacing the 1st & only key until such time as I will dig into things (when it is 70F or lower here again) & I am able to go to where my spare parts are hiding out.
The funny in all this is how Eeuro calls a CUT key 'coded' - which is quite confusing until one calls them & asks about it.
Thanks for the replies here Folks !!
