really the only thing tech2 lets you do is trigger a spark on a specific cylinder. it runs a pulse of spark on and off for a few seconds. With a test lamp type spark tester, it will show you if it works at all. with an adjustable gap tester you can figure out what actual voltage it's capable of, and observe it's behavior at it's limits (seen as lack of ability to spark or inconsistent spark at larger gaps)
As jersey said, you want only a SEM, the OEM. Wells sells, or used to sell this as part number CB11, which sometimes is cheaper than going directly through orio. The knock-offs are not usable.
