What a bummer! What was wrong with the cars exhaust system, in other words why was it changed? If they had it done at a typical muffler shop that are not at all familiar with Saab's they may have caused a server restriction somewhere! My 99 having been converted to a 16 valve engine of course doesn't have a stock exhaust system so I have nothing to compare to as far as if a "900 exhaust would be ok" to retrofit? Larry West and Gary Stottler among other knowledgeable Saab 99 people here can point you in the right direction as far as where to get original style exhaust components to make everything right again. What I did learn developing our SPG9 3" C-900T systems which would apply to a 99 is that the engine being mounted longitudinally you want to stick with the original setup as far as everything being mounted solid to the engine/trans and let the rubber hanger towards the rear take up the movement which is actually a great design. In other words don't let a muffler shop or anyone else add a flex section like a transversely mounted engine uses! I haven't even got my 99 on my hoist yet but I intent to this weekend so it will be interesting just how the exhaust was done for the 16 valve engine swap! If I see something that may be of help to you I'll take pictures that I can email you if necessary. Maybe post a new message so it's at the top of this board so one of the 99 experts here will see it and shed some light on your problems! Good luck, Dave
