I had a similar thing happen to me when I bought a 95 900S it to leaked oil becuase of bad seals in the transmission, fortunately the car came with a 30 day warranty.

If the clutch makes a sound does it slip? They should have noticed that the seals were leaking during the their inspection. You could drive the car for another 40-50K and it could be just fine albiet it will make the noise. Also you will have to top up the tranny fluid probably once a month.

If you really want to replace the clutch a good independent will do the job for $800-$1000 and will include the input shaft seal. The seal is easy to replace once it's out.

You can always take it back an sob a bit to the salesman that sold it to you they may give you a break. They did on mine as the 30 day warranty was for the engine only and not the transmission. They ended up doing the seals and I paid the parts for the clutch ($250) since they were in there anyway.

SAABs are not difficult to work on if you are mechanically inclined, a transmission and clutch is a weekend job (probably two 10 hr days).

Try the SAAB story with the salesmen and be nice to him and you may get lucky. Let us know how you make out.
