Well there's 2 sides to this argument and there's no right or wrong answer its all up to driver preference. ive driven both and i feel its all in the tires an the skill of the driver. its snowing out side now and my winter cars a 95 900 SET 5spd and it has gislavid ZR speed rated tires far from snow tires and its doing great. really once you get a SUV going its going to take along time to stop it on the ice and when you skid its going to be harder to regain control. as long as you respect the road conditions you will be fine. as far a safety saabs are incredibly safe. i drive my car to college everyday in the snow its fine. just get some good winter tires gislavids are the best but will cost you $1000 but its worth it. blizaks are good but once you wear down the first 20% of tread they are useless. you might also want to consider traction control my moms 9-5 aero wagon has it. there's a winter button and its great in the snow. but its all up to personal preference
