I was shopping a car before Christmas and was looking at an Audi 90 first, went on the Audiworld forum and didn't get much helpful information. Later decided to get a Saab I've been always dreaming of (became a regular visitor of Saabnet a couple of years ago). Thanks God I got one (95 900S) just before Christmas, really like the car. But one day later after I got it, couldn't shift the gear out of parking, being stranded in a mall parking lot for about half an hour before finally it went through. I then got a lot of helpful information about this shift lock symptom from Saabnet forum and even some helps directly from Dean and Czar. Using all the information I've got, I fixed the problem by myself by removing and opening the brake light switch and cleaning the metal contacts up, put it back and it works like NEW, the shift lock problem is GONE! Without spending a dime! My wife is very impressed! Now I'll do a short belt mod and I've got all the information about parts and DIY I needed from this forum. Very thankful for this homey forum!!! and very thankful for all the people here helping other people out! I feel a stronger bond between me and my car already.
