'01 9-5 Aero Wagon 45K miles, 5-spd manual

I found that I got about the same milage with 87 and 93 octane fuels. There was a very clear reduction in percieved performance with 87. This in turn resulted in a different style of driving, I didn't attempt to accelerate as hard with 87, as compared to the joy and confidence that the Aero provides with 93. Were I a little more mature about by driving style, my behavior would have been more consistant regardless of the fuel used. I BELIEVE that if I were more consistant in my driving styles, then I would have recorded better MPG with premium fuel.

Conversely, with my prevous car, '93 Volvo 850 GLT, 5-spd manual, I consistantly got 23-24 MPG on Premium and 26-28 MPG on regular. this suprised me a little, since the normally aspirated 2.4L I-5 engine had a relativly high compression ratio of 10.5:1.
