I think I get slightly better mileage with high octane in my 01 linear (with Aero ECU). Recently gas has gone up a lot in Québec so I have reverted to low octane, but as the warm weather comes back, oh, so slowly, I will go back to high octane which I can get for 3 cents extra on Thursdays. I am pretty sure the increased mileage covers the extra 3 cents, but not an extra 10 cents, which is the normal difference.
My friend always tanks on Thursdays with his '86 NG 900 because he is sure he gets better gas mileage with high octane. Saab recommends high octane for his car while they only suggest it for mine.
