about what I learned and what I did. I could not do laminate in the kitchen even if I wanted to i couldnt get my value out later if I sold (By the way new laminate tops look much better and mimic stone pretty well). I did do laminate tops in the two baths and they look quite nice. In the kitchen I put granite (Junepeous Cololobro Gold) spelling wrong. It looks lovely and lightens the kitchen (also put in some new cabinets and refaced others). It seems like everyone wants black or dark dark granite but we did not like those. Our granite has swirls, veins and patterns and looks natural. Was going to keep the cast iron sink but decided to do stainless steel undremounted. Then of course you cant go cheap on the faucets (it never ends). Also we did 4 inch granite backsplash which meant we still had to tile above the backsplash.
Hopefully this helps a bit
Anthony
