I just came from a tire shop. First I had to explain asymmetrical tires to the manager. Second, I had to catch the guy starting the wrong end (I wanted rears replaced, he started pulling the fronts.) Then, after he puts the new tires on I notice that one of them is backwards. I then have to explain again about asymmetrical tires and how you are supposed to look for "this side out" on the sidewall. The guy looked like this was the first time he heard of such nonsense! I just could not believe it! He kept mumbling something about unidirectional tires (which mine were not!)
To finish me off, they billed me for new valve stems that they did not replace. I confronted the manager and got my money back.
Bottom line: you need to watch these people's every move!
I could tell stories like this for hours. Happens all the time. One time I went to get 5 different things done. Upon returning I checked the car and found that they only did 2 things out of 5, one of them completely incorrectly. I go in and they present me with the bill for all 5 items. Nice, huh?
