One week in the Netherlands would be a great experience. You can travel around the country by train, or around the city by street car (tram) and bus. All places of interest are directly around the train stations. Train stations have the VVV, dutch for tourist information, they even have bicycle rentals.

In Amsterdam you may want to take canal ride, Rijksmuseum (see Nightwatch by Rembrandt and many others), van Gogh museum, walk along Kalverstraat, Dam. Redlight district is Amsterdam is quite an experience, you won't get harrassed, they are all behind windows, and chinese food is maybe the best around there. It's also very close to Centraal Station. Coffee places in abundance.

It may be a little early to visit Keukenhof, the place famous for the tulips, but they will have extraordinary display of many other flowers. It's in Lisse, close to Leiden, you can take a day trip. Also visit Den Haag, go to Madurodam (miniature city), it is close to Scheveningen (beach), you may want to try raw herring. Netherlands has, in my opinion, the best indonesian food. A visit to the flower market would be interesting too, or cheese factories (just outside Amsterdam)

Once in Haag, Delft is close by (5 miles). See the blue porcelain there and have coffee and pancakes at the market.

Once you are there, look for the classic Saab 900 with 4 doors and a hatch!

Let me know if you have specific interests, or any other questions. I lived there 10 years, and have a brother living in Den Haag.

Tim
