the aerospace industry. As with various posts, degrees in mechanical, electrical, material science, and even civil engineering (structure mechanics), are options to consider.
Depending what area of aerospace industry you are interested in, you maybe better off with a simple physics degree, with electives in various engineering disciplines.
Do you want to do fluid mechanics type of aerospace or avionics type or system control type ? In fact, courses in optics would be another option if you are into that kind things.
You really don't want to box yourself in as an "aerospace" major. However, you DO want to be good with the basics, i.e. physics, math, and some engineering course, such as fluid mechanics, some knowledge of compressible flow, thermodynamics.
Talk to students and faculties in other engineering departments at RPI and find out more about their programs. Aerospace major hasn't been a hit since the Moon shot days. I would look more into mechanical and electrical and open yourself up for more options, such as the auto industry and the bigger defence industry. You want to sell yourself as a well rounded technical person, as engineering systems these days cross all technical disciplines.
You are still early on in the game, take a bit of time and think about various options, and best of luck.
