....if you keep the Aero. I'm not suggesting you sell the Aero, just trying to be objective because I love 9000's - I don't think there was a safer or more enjoyable family sedan/hatch ever built. However, I notice the clutch hasn't been replaced, nor the water pump. These are items that I'd have a contingency fund set aside for: a new clutch is about $350 in parts and figure 6 hrs labor, while the h20 pump is about $100 parts, $150 labor. If you do decide to sell the Aero, then don't replace it with a Volvo, get a newer Aero or a '98 CSE (almost an Aero). The Aero got even more refined in the later years and it would be hard to find a better vehicle than a '97 Aero: the transaxle is better, the passenger gets an air bag (I feel they're kinda redundant with the structural integrity of the passenger compartment and the use of seat belts), and a better stereo, are only a few that come readily to mind.

Annie, you made a great decision when you bought the Aero. It sounds like you're letting your boyfriend make the decision for you with this Volvo idea! Let him drive and get familiar, ie. work on, your Aero, while you drive the Volvo - do this for a month, at least, before making a decision.

Finally, I'm concerned with your brand loyalty, or lack thereof - these kinda things could translate into other areas! I mean the leap from automobiles to boyfriends is not that great: what's stopping you from using the same kind of logic when the relationship ages a few more years? I can hear it now: "Well I've been w/him a long time, and he is a lot a fun, but if I dump him for Clark, who's a bit stodgy but rich, I'll have a huge chunk of change!".........;^)
