she is also on Lipitor. She did tell me to take the Coenzyme (50mg). She has to take it because a small doseage of the lipitor (10mg) does give her muscle pain. She also has a twin sister - also on Lipitor and having muscle pain.
My brothers all have a high cholesterol count. My mother who just turned 90, and still very active, has a high cholesterol level.
Seems genetic to me.
Trouble is the doctor immediately prescribed 40mg of lipitor without knowing anything about my family medical history. Heck, I never inquired about family cholesterol levels until yesterday.
Perhaps my current high levels may be much lower than they were six months ago - because I have always felt fine and been physically active, it's been almost three years since my last blood test and physical (by this same doctor).
I am going to wait until I have another blood test six months from now to see how things are going. If my cholesterol levels have not dropped then, I may consider the Lipitor.
Until then, I shall continue my marathon training running 30 to 50 miles per week, and continue to watch what I consume.
Turns out one of my all time favorite foods is extremely high in cholesterol....baked chicken wings!
A serving of only four wings has 32% of the recommended daily cholesterol intake. 4 wings!!! I eat about 25 of them at least once a week.
I'll cut down on the wings.
beer is cholesterol free.
Thanks all for the responses. You have been very helpfull to my decision making.
